  I don’t understand the month to month pricing and how it works if my organization already pays to have its own web hosts. Once the website is designed in wordpress, plugins are added, and the website is given to our hosting company, what does the month to month cost cover?

  You seem to be confused between WordPress.com and WordPress.org. Both are totally different platforms.

  WordPress.com vs. WordPress.org

  All the paid plans at WordPress.com provide you space and everything you need to have a website with a custom domain.

  WordPress.com is a fully-hosted platform and all the plans are billed yearly. You have to pay once a year.
