Questions about Tags and Google search!

    Hi everyone,

Was wondering if tags are searchable by Google when they’re not displayed on the pages. Also, I know that WP is English-based, so what if someone is using a non-English version of Google to do the search? Will Google still bring traffic to my blog even if it’s not written in English? Thanks in advance.

Google very much dislikes text which is rendered invisible. Visible tags are going to give you a bigger boost in the Googlejuice than invisible ones, which might even count against you.

You can change the language of your WP blog, btw. I blog in English but get referrals from French and German Google, so I’d assume it would also work the other way around.

  • WP isn’t English only. We support many languages, each with its own localized site and tag listings such as http://fr.wordpress.com/ and http://id.wordpress.com/.

Google searches through the code not what is displayed.

There are a multitude of search engines in a variety of languages.

WordPress blogs are in quite a number of languages and more of the company content is being translated every day.

I get traffic from 74 (at last count) different countries and English is not the majority language in most of them. And I have gotten search results in numerous languages both from searches by others and searches I’ve done myself.
