Questions about transferring blog to a hosted domain???

    Ok. I just got a new domain set up through bluehost for my blog. I installed WordPress through bluehost and now have imported my old posts, media, etc. to the wordpress on my bluehost. Essentially I want my new website to show my blog as is with the added flexibility of using the .org software for WordPress. I figured out how to transfer my subscribers but will my new site keep show up under searches like my blog used to? Will all the SEO stay with it? Can I redirect my old blog to my new site? When I google my new site will it show up where my old blog used to? Any help would be very much appreciated.

    The reason we purchase domain mapping is so that all the URLs from the .wordpress.com root blog when clicked seamlessly redirect to the same content in the post under the new domain URLs.

    The pagerank and authority the blog earned was earned by the .wordpress.com URLs and belongs to them. It’s not transferable. so what that means is the new domain starts from zero. In about 4 – 6 months time the content will all be re-indexed by search engines under the domain URLs and all things being equal the blog will probably have the same pagerank and authority it had prior to purchasing domain mapping.

    In this case you did not purchase domain mapping from WordPress.com. That means all the links to the original content will be broken. It will be about 4 – 6 months time for Google and the other search engines to reindex all that content again under the domain URLs. During that time when visitors click links to the content under the original .wordpress.com URLs they will experience a “404” (page not found) error message.

    So if I’ve already purchased my domain outside of WordPress, is there anyway to redirect my old blog to the new site? Under domain mapping I found this “Mapping a domain you already own costs $12.00 per domain, per year”. Is that option not possible if I have my domain mapped to bluehost?
