Questions before I go live

  • Unknown's avatar

Hi there I have a few questions please can you help.
    1) When I ‘go live’ I don’t want the Customizer or Edit buttons to show – however, if I remove them how do I edit/customize in the future
    2) In my widgets I have quite a lot of information. So that its more palatable for anyone reading it I would like to activate the click on ……more – so in effect hide some of the information until the reader clicks on more. I tried copying and pasting some code from another area of the site but it doesn’t seem to be working in the Widget – please can you advise.
    3) In my Widge called ‘Services’ I have put bullet points and would love if it were possible to line up the text when it goes to two lines – is this possible?

Thank you so much for your help

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi there,

    1. The Edit button is only visible to you when you are logged in. Your site visitors will not see it. But this is the first time I’m seeing a link to the Customizer at the bottom of the content columns on your front page (temp screenshot). Did you add that link? If so, you will want to remove it. A visitor to your site who is logged in to WordPressdotcom clicks on it, they are taken to their own site’s Customizer. People who are not logged in to WordPressdotcom are taken to a log in page.

When you need to Edit your site content or Customize your site, you can do so through the links in your site’s Dashboard.

    2. The “More” link as described here, https://en.support.wordpress.com/more-tag/ does not work in Widgets or on Pages. It only truncates blog entries on the main blog page. Which widgets do you feel have too long texts?

    3. It probably isn’t possible to change that spacing without the CSS Customization upgrade, which is part of the Premium and Business plans.

In case you haven’t seen it yet, there is a lot of information on setting up your theme in the Sela Theme Showcase page here: https://wordpress.com/themes/sela/

Let us know if you need more help with anything.

Many thanks justjennifer your advice is very helpful.

The “Services” Widget and “Why Use Fiona’s Office” Widget are lengthy but I need that content. Maybe I’ve chosen the wrong template… I like it though.

Understood on the spacing re the CSS Customization.

I will look at the Sela Theme info.

    Thanks again
