Questions before I sign up -domain name and conversion
-
I’m new to WordPress. 1) Can I use only my domain name jrwarner.com or does it need to have the .wordpress.com behind it for this site to work? 2) I have an existing site. How hard would it be to convert my existing site over to WordPress?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hey, I’m happy to clarify this.
Yes, you can use a custom domain
jrwarner.comas the public address for your site. It does not need to show.wordpress.comto visitors, but to make your custom domain the site’s primary address, the site needs to be on a paid WordPress.com plan. For your second question: moving
jrwarner.comto WordPress.com is definitely doable, but since this appears to be a non-WordPress site, it would usually be a manual rebuild/migration, not a one-click import. You need to create the new WordPress.com site, move over the content, recreate pages/navigation, and then connect https://wordpress.com/support/domains/connect-existing-domain or transfer the domain https://wordpress.com/support/domains/incoming-domain-transfer/ once the new site is ready. The usual process looks like this:
- Create a new WordPress.com site
- Copy or import the content from the current site
- Rebuild the pages, menu, images, and add any files
- Review the new site
- Connect or transfer
jrwarner.com - Set
jrwarner.comas the primary address https://wordpress.com/support/domains/set-a-primary-address/#how-to-change-the-primary-address
