Questions before upgrading to Premium
-
Hi there
I’m planning to upgrade to a premium plan (£7 per month) and have a few questions. I am new to WordPress, so please bear that in mind!
1) When I set the website up it was called thestoryfirst – and this appears when I post on the blog, can I change this if I get a custom domain on premium?
2) If you want to accept payments (I might be some way off this for now) do you have to use paypal or can you use other payment services – either linking off site or via plugin?
3) What platforms can you schedule social media posts for; is it only facebook, or does it include twitter, instagram, etc?
4) With the domain name, it looks like email forwarding works with email addresses like (email visible only to moderators and staff) but if I send a reply back it will come from whatever email address I use (eg: (email visible only to moderators and staff)) is there a free way of masking this or is it only a paid option?
I’m sure there’s a few more questions, but for now I’d be grateful for your help!

Hi George!
Let me answer your questions one by one.
When I set the website up it was called thestoryfirst – and this appears when I post on the blog, can I change this if I get a custom domain on premium?
On plan Premium, you can register a custom domain that would eliminate the .wordpress.com from your site’s address. But the site title and tagline can be changed anytime on any plan from My Site>Manage>Settings.
If you want to accept payments (I might be some way off this for now) do you have to use paypal or can you use other payment services – either linking off site or via plugin?
On plan Premium you wouldn’t be able to use plugins so, the only way of accepting payments would be via PayPal on Simple Payments Block, or via Stripe on https://wordpress.com/support/wordpress-editor/blocks/recurring-payments-button/.
If you would like to add a payment gateway, you would need to upgrade to Business and use a plugin like WooCommerce.
What platforms can you schedule social media posts for; is it only facebook, or does it include twitter, instagram, etc?
Instagram does not allow this, but you can automatically share your posts to Facebook Pages, Twitter, Tumblr, and LinkedIn:

With the domain name, it looks like email forwarding works with email addresses like (email visible only to moderators and staff) but if I send a reply back it will come from whatever email address I use (eg: (email visible only to moderators and staff)) is there a free way of masking this or is it only a paid option?
You will need to create a custom email address, there are some free options, like Zoho:

Let me know if you have any more questions regarding that.
