Quick Blogcast from Godaddy isn't visible
-
Although you sent me an email saying that you successfully imported my blog content from Godaddy I don’t see it when I go to my wordpress site and nowhere do I find a written answer to my query – I’d like to interact with a human being.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Not to worry as this is a common question I have answered day in and day out for over 8 years now.
What is the URLof the Godaddy (wordpress.org) site you are importing from?
What is the URL of the wordpress.com site you are importing into?
How large is the import file?
I’ll tag this thread for a Staff follow-up. Please subscribe to the thread so you are notified when they respond and please be patient while waiting.
Everyone answering questions here is a human being.

The reason the import doesn’t appear to be working is that the export files you received from GoDaddy are empty of any content.
Please review the instructions here, and try to generate a new export file:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/import/import-from-godaddy-quick-blog/From there, please try the import again. If it still isn’t working, you might check with GoDaddy support for assistance on getting a full export file, as that part of the process is outside of our control.

Hi Everyone,
I’m replying to this discussion thread because the topic at hand comes closest to the issue I’m struggling with.
Our blog is cnayblog.wordpress.com. We were QuickBlogCast users, but as you know, GoDaddy is retiring their use of QBC. I think and hope that we have successfully exported all of our posts from QBC to WP, using the help article I found here:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/import/import-from-godaddy-quick-blog/ .
All of our posts show up in wordpress and to users who access our new WP blog.
Here are my questions and concerns about the conversion process:
– The GoDaddy instructions I was initially following for importing posts from QBC into WP state that you need to import the posts as an rss feed. I elected not to do this because I thought the rss feed wouldn’t work once QBC is retired. The article I’m referring to is here:
http://support.godaddy.com/help/article/5046/export-quickblogcast-to-wordpress?prog_id=GoDaddy
Was I right in following the first article I mentioned instead of the one right above? Will our posts continue to be available on WP as long as I have the .aspx file stored on my hard drive?
– Related to that- the GoDaddy instructions which use the RSS feed to make the conversion say that you will lose images and videos once QBC goes down (at midnight). Is that true if you use the WP help article that I’ve used instead? We are okay with losing that type of media, but just want to be clear on what will be retained and what will not.
My main concern is just making sure that the solution in the WP help article isn’t too good to be true. I don’t want to think that I’ve done this successfully only to find out tomorrow that we’ve lost all 450+ of our blog posts.
Please help!
Thank you.

Initially when we heard about the GoDaddy Quick Blogcast service shutting down, we had no direct way to import those posts, so people were referred (by GoDaddy) to the RSS option. Since that time, our developers were able to build an importer tool, which should make imports easier and may include content the RSS feed option didn’t.
Anything that is now on WordPress.com will not be removed or altered because of a new importer tool, so you don’t need to worry about that, and once it’s on WordPress.com you don’t need to retain your old file from GoDaddy unless you wish to do so. Furthermore, any media now on WordPress.com in your media library is safe. What may not be safe is anything you are linking to that is still hosted on GoDaddy.
If you’re concerned about losing content from GoDaddy, I’d recommend that you immediately create a new (temporary) blog here on WordPress.com and try importing your content from GoDaddy again to the new blog, to see if content comes over with the importer tool that didn’t initially with the RSS option.

Great. Thanks so much for your quick response! Were you able to take a quick look at our blog to make sure it is in a good place? We know that the format is a bit wonky, but our main concern was importing content first. It seemed that we had done it successfully, but I just wanted to double and triple check. Good to know that we’re now immune to the QBC crash!
Thank you again!

I’m sorry, I’m not sure what you mean here. Could you clarify?
-
I was just wondering if you visited our blog (cnayblog.wordpress.com) and if so, did it appear that we are in good shape to not have to worry about losing text and images in our posts when QBC is retired tomorrow?
-
That’s not really something I can determine, because I don’t know if everything has been migrated over or not. It looks like your images are on WordPress.com, but I can’t verify that everything is there. Again, if you’re not 100% sure, I’d do a new import on a different site.

Thanks for the help. The technician at Godaddy I spoke to via phone today was totally not helpful. I had resorted to cutting and pasting each blog, reconciled to losing the date sequences and comments, and then this string of input arrived – followed the advice, and it’s all done. Requires some tidying up, but mostly it’s all there. Thanks!

I’m sorry that everything took so long to resolve, but I’m glad you were able to save most of your content. Please let me know if you have any other questions about using WordPress.com.

Have spent the entire day fixing formatting. Helpful perhaps in learning to use wordpress, but not really what I wanted to do today.
