Quick help to test if function is broken or not?

  • Unknown's avatar

Hi. I posted a test ‘comment’ on a post and it was immediately approved and posted without review.

I was under the impression it was set to post after being reviewed.

Did that happen because I commented on my own post?

Could I ask someone to kindly ‘comment’ a word or two on any live test page so I can see if it’s working please?

Thank you very much. Have a great day.

  • Hi @eyeofthewolfe , some of your posts here are getting stuck in a filter. I’m not sure why the algorithms getting hung up on them, but our staff does periodically check and I found it there.

One thing I did notice, though, is you have created several new topics for the same issue. We’ll try to merge them together, but you’ll want to avoid duplicate or near-duplicate requests going forward. It’s best to use one “thread” for a topic, and also to use a separate thread for different issues, like you did here. Thanks!

    Sure.

Are ALL comments from everyone supposed to be automatically posted, or isn’t that what the “pending” section is for (so they can be manually reviewed before posting)?

As for the topic at hand, is anyone able to post a test comment on one of my live test pages so I can see how it all reacts?

I’m looking to see if it puts new comments in “pending” for me to review them before posting, or if they automatically get posted.

This was partially tested when I commented on one of my own posts, and it was automatically posted. The goal is to see if the same happens when someone other than myself puts a comment on one of my posts.

Anything assistance in clarifying or testing this, even just “test comment”, would be greatly appreciated so I can see how comments get processed.

Thank you very much. Have a great day.

PS. Looks like I accidentally moved a block when I posted this. Swap first and second after “sure”. Thank you.

Btw, if some of my posts here are getting caught in a filter, does that mean there are going to be problems when my site tries to go live? Will other stuff get hung up?

Thank you again very much. Have a great day.

Ok. I got someone to test it, and it displayed weird. They did it twice, and it keeps adding “LikeLike” to the end of the comments after they submit. It looks ok everywhere else though. Here’s a screenshot:

It depends on your comment settings! You can choose to moderate all comments, or only comments from people who haven’t previously had an approved comment, or you can avoid comment moderation completely:

No, it won’t do – the filter applies specifically to these forums; while we provide anti-spam services for your site, it won’t apply to the content you publish!

Thank you for the screenshot! I suspect that might be the “like” button itself which isn’t rendering fully while the comment is in preview and has not yet been approved. This is how it looks normally:

Thank you very much for the reply. I do appreciate it. Does that mean the “LikeLike” issue is because of their browser or their browser settings then, not an issue with anything on my end?

  • Right. I can also confirm that I see the same as the screen shot shared by staff-95percentghost

Great. Thank you very much for that assistance. I really appreciate it.

    Have a great day.

(Did not have the box to check “closed” for this thread, but it is now solved, thank you very kindly).
