Quintus – Header tabs section narrower on category page

Hi. A user on the Spanish forums reported that the header tabs section on Quintus does not appear the same way on the front page as it does on a category page:

Here it appears on two lines because for some reason, there is an empty space to the right of the header tabs. This does not happen on the front page.

  • I did some investigating and here’s what I found:

On blog pages and archive pages, the “previous” and “next” post links appear to the right of the menu. To make room for the navigation links, the menu has a large right margin. However, the navigation links only appear when there are more than one pages of posts. When there is only one page, the white space appears. It’s only noticeable if you have a large number of menu items.

On Pages, the margin in the menu is reduced because navigation doesn’t apply here. Looks like this user is using a static front page, so that’s why they aren’t seeing the extra space.

This appears to be how Quintus was designed. With the Custom Design upgrade, it’s possible to reduce the right margin on the menu using CSS, but that could potentially cause a problem if he ever needs the previous and next post links.
