Quintus Theme – creating a gallery
-
I’m using the Quintus theme. I’ve seen other users of this theme post galleries, with multiple images arranged in a grid (thumbnails). How do I create one of these “galleries?”
Thanks!

You can create a gallery by following this guide:

Evarlese, I been trying to follow this guide…but the interface I’m seeing doesn’t look the way it does in the tutorial. For instance, after I go to the media gallery and add my images to the post, I never see the “insert gallery” option. What am I missing here? Is it possible that the theme itself doesn’t allow this?

When trying to add a gallery to one of your posts, are you uploading your pictures via the Add Media button on your Add New Post page?
If not, can you go try creating a new post, clicking on the Add Media button, and uploading two or three images at once?
http://en.support.wordpress.com/images/#upload-images-from-your-computerOnce you’ve done this, can you scroll all the way to the bottom of the pop up box and let me know if you see the Insert Gallery button? If not, it would be helpful for you to take a screenshot of what you see instead:

When I do this the way you suggest above, it works. I’ve been uploading images directly from my iPhone by email which, apparently, stores images in the Media Library? Maybe I can’t add images to a gallery from the Media Library?
Is there a way to email images directly to a particular gallery?

Okay, if you’re trying to add a gallery from your iPhone, the process is a bit different. Are you using the WordPress app? If so, you need to add the gallery short code manually.
To do this, you’ll want to click on Posts -> Add New on the WordPress app. Then, upload your images to your post as you normally would. You’ll want to delete the HTML coding that’s in your post for each of the images you’ve inserted so that the photos don’t show up twice.
Then, just type in [gallery] and click publish.
It’s a bit more complicated than adding a gallery via the WordPress.com Dashboard on your computer, but that’s definitely why you weren’t seeing the option before.

Hmmm…still not working. I’ve deleted the html for each image and replaced it with [gallery]. Do I type [gallery] three times if I’m uploading three images?
-
No need to type [gallery] three times. Are you uploading the images via the Add New Post page?

I don’t see anywhere that it’s called an “Add New Post” page…I’m just clicking on the “write” icon as shown in this screen-shot link:

Am I creating New Posts wrong?
-
Yeah, that’s the button Erica is referring to.
As long as you upload the images through that screen, they will be attached to the post, then you can create a gallery of the attached images with the Gallery shortcode.
See this for more info: http://en.support.wordpress.com/images/gallery/#gallery-shortcode
