Quote Text Size
-
Hello,
I hope you’re all well. I have what is probably a rather stupid query but for the life of me I can’t work out what’s going wrong.
I have a self-hosted WordPress blog with third-party Pipdig theme – InvisiblyMe – https://invisiblyme.com/
I’m drafting an upcoming post post with quotes and in order to make them stand out a little more, I thought I’d use the standard Quote block.
Neither the default nor large setting are appealing, both with way too much space around them and not in a font that really suits the rest of the post. I want to change the padding around each quote, which I seem to have done, and I’ve also managed to add dotted blue lines to separate quotes.
What doesn’t seem to work is adjusting the font itself or the size.
I’ve added the CSS via Appearance > Customise > Additional CSS.
I’ve got the following :
blockquote {
max-width: 550px;
margin: 15px;
padding: 15px;
font-family: American Typewriter, serif;
font-size: 12px;
font-style: italic;
color: #428bca;
border-top: 4px dotted #428bca;
border-bottom: 4px dotted #428bca;
}However, the font doesn’t change and nor does the size.
In the Block, I’ve tried Default and Large but neither change to American Typewriter or 12px.
I don’t suppose anyone is able to please help with this?
Many thanks & kindest regards,

Hi there!
Just a heads up that you’d want to post on the WordPress.org support forum at https://wordpress.org/support/forums since your site is a self-hosted WordPress.org site. We primarily provide support for free WordPress.com sites on this forum. So you’d want to post there to get help from the WordPress.org community. :)
There are some differences between WordPress.com and WordPress.org. If you aren’t sure about them, please check the following page that explains it well: WordPress.com vs WordPress.org.
Generally speaking, you would often need to use a third-party plugin (Unless the theme has a built-in function) to change the font to a custom one. Using CSS only, you can change fonts, but if that font isn’t already installed on a visitor’s computer, it won’t be downloaded (unless you add the proper code that also forces the font download for visitors, which the CSS you shared above doesn’t do).
I would suggest reaching out to your theme support first to see if they’re able to help. The site’s visual elements are handled by the theme and it’s possible they can point you to a theme settings page or provide a different CSS code for you. If not, please post on the WordPress.org support forum for further help.
Regards
