Ragged titles of blogs on WordPress dashboard

  I have a problem with the displaying of blogs on the WordPress dashboard. Instead of being linear they are spread over many lines. This only happens with posts not pages. Jetpack seems implicated. I am uninstalled most of my plugins (except Updraft) and reinstalled them slowly. No Jetpack, no problem! I have repeated the exercise using a default theme with the same result. Screenshots can be supplied if you like.
  I can see the posts as they should be if I use the Jetpack dashboard, going through the plan.

  Supplemental to the above:
  Theme: child theme of NisArg Pro with minimal changes
  Wordpress: 5.5.1
  Plugins: all up to date
  Akismet (a)
  Bluehost (d)
  Jetpack (a)
  OptinMonster (d)
  Yoast (a) (a) activated; (d) deactivated.
  Same effect observed with NisArg Pro and default theme of TwentySixteen
