Random images missing!
-
Hi,
Since this morning I’ve noticed images missing on my blog.
Some images I had erased from my media library (my mistake) so I would understand them going missing, but the tricky thing is : images keep disappearing and reappearing randomly.
I can have image 1 and 2 showing in one post and not image 3, but then when I refresh I have image 1 not showing and image 2 and 3 showing. It seems completely random and it keeps changing. A friend of mine on her computer didn’t have the same images showing on my post than I had at the very same time.
I really don’t get it!!
One of my categories in the menu has also stopped working, I can’t click on it. Related…? What is up??
Does anyone has advice/solution?
Thank you!The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Have you used all your free media storage space?
Where are the missing images hosted?
Are they hosted on an image hosting service like Flickr or photobucket?
Did you upload them into your Media Library?
Did you delete them from the Media Library? If you do that then they cannot be displayed.
Please read OMG! My images are gone http://onecoolsitebloggingtips.com/2013/09/20/omg-my-images-are-gone/What are the URLs of these posts or pages that the images are “missing” from?

Hi, thanks for the reply.
All the images I post come from my media library. I have erased some since I used them, and I know now I shouldn’t have. But even some images that are still in my library keep missing and coming back in my posts.
This post for example : https://henriettesimon.wordpress.com/2014/06/17/kitsch-kitchen-a-amsterdam/You might have some of the images missing and some showing. But then if you refresh the page, it won’t be the same ones missing or showing. It’s really random. It’s been doing that for several days now…

I know staff are tinkering with things lately. I’m wondering if one of the things they’re tinkering with is the list of acceptable filenames for uploads. I notice that image has hyphens in the name. Can you check some other images that are “blinking” and see if they too have hyphens or other punctuation in them?

@raincoaster
The issue may also be an https:// rather than http:// issue. See https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/facebook-and-twitter-lost-numbers-https?replies=4#post-2148498 -
@henriette simon,
I can have image 1 and 2 showing in one post and not image 3, but then when I refresh I have image 1 not showing and image 2 and 3 showing. It seems completely random and it keeps changing.
This sounds like a loading issue; slow and/or intermittently deficient loading.
But even some images that are still in my library keep missing and coming back in my posts. This post for example : https://henriettesimon.wordpress.com/2014/06/17/kitsch-kitchen-a-amsterdam/
I found no images in the post linked to above.

@henriette simon,
At the post https://henriettesimon.wordpress.com/2014/06/17/kitsch-kitchen-a-amsterdam/:
Clicking on the broken image link titled “kitsch kitchen horaires” (https://henriettesimon.files.wordpress.com/2014/06/kitsch-kitchen-horaires.jpg) results in a 404 error, which means that this URL does not exist anymore
Clicking on the broken image link titled “kitsch kitchen 20 ans” (https://henriettesimon.files.wordpress.com/2014/06/kitsch-kitchen-20-ans.jpg) results in a 404 error, which means that this URL does not exist anymore.

But if you refreshed the page after that, you would find the images missing were not the same as a second ago. And the ones that are said to be missing are actually in my media library!
Do you see what I’m saying…? -
Hi there, henriettesimon. Can you please start by clearing your browser’s cache? That will make sure the changes you’re seeing aren’t being caused by your browser saving an old version of the post.
Then, can you please let me know exactly which images you’re not able to see that are still in your media library? That will help me investigate this for you.
