Random Images not displaying in Media Library

    I have just updated WordPress to the latest version and since doing this I see some images are missing from my website, I go into Media library and the thumbnails for these images are blank, but if I go to the URL and copy this to a new window the images appear, weirdly though if I load the same images again into Media Library they are also blank, but if I load different images in they are OK, i have tried saving the images in a different format and again they appear blank in media library. why is this happening since the update and how can it be fixed.
