Random link url no longer works

Add topic to favorites
Hi – I’ve had this ‘oracle’ page on my site since 2016. The link ‘may the stars guide me’ is linked to pull up any random post on my blog. It worked correctly until a couple of days ago. I haven’t uploaded anything or changed the page, nothing at all. It was working and now it no longer works. All it does is it brings up today’s post whereas before it would choose from hundreds of other posts on my blog. The original link was http://thecosmictides.wordpress.com/?random – has something on wordpress changed globally which means this kind of link no longer works?

@vajrasar I have the same issue on my site. After being at the top of my site for a decade today the ?random link no longer functions. Having over 1000 posts on my site it had proved popular with visitors.

Interesting that you have the same issue – so that must mean something global with WordPress. I do hope that they can fix it for us. Like you, this function was also popular with my visitors.

Hi @justjennifer I hope this is not a permanent improvement like when my Blogroll Widget just disappeared. Don’t you sometimes feel like pressing the button.

Hi there! This feature was removed because we thought it was not used, but we were wrong! :)

We already have all the code in place to bring it back to WordPress.com. I’ll update this forum thread once this feature is back.
