random site subscriptions

OK we have confirmed it is not any of my plugins. They were still being added at the rate of about one an hour.

I have also established that based on “date subscribed” it is being done probably 3 hours or so ahead of Eastern.

    Hope that helps.

And whether this is good or bad, my main site can no longer be accessed through wordpress.com. I assume that might be due to the bumped up security if so, I guess I will live.

My 2 factor also turned off on that site as well when I would normally be prompted. :(

  • It’s nothing on your site that’s causing these subscriptions. It’s an issue with your WordPress.com username account, and our systems team is investigating what is going on there.

Your site can no longer be accessed via WordPress.com because it appears you are now blocking access to XML-RPC on your site. Jetpack needs that to be able to communicate with your site:

    Jetpack

My 2 factor also turned off on that site as well when I would normally be prompted.

We only have control over 2FA on your WordPress.com username account, and that’s still active.

If you had 2FA on your admin login for your site, that would have been added via a plugin as 2FA is not a built-in feature of the open source WordPress software you’re using for that site. So if you disabled all plugins it is expected that 2FA would no longer work on that site.

I know it’s disconcerting to have this happening, but making changes to your site is not going to fix anything. Based on the info we have this is a problem with your WordPress.com username account, not your site, and something our team needs to resolve on this end. We’ll update you as soon as we have more information from them.
