Random surge in views and visitors between 12am-1am. All from USA
-
So yesterday I was working on my site late at night and getting it indexed on Google Search Console. Then I randomly went to check my stats for my website and realised that it shot up to 21 views within 30mins from 1 visitor. A few minutes on it weirdly changed from 1 to 19 visitors. But what I am concerned about is why the random spike all collectively and that was it. Didn’t get views for a while after that.
Now it has happened again today while I was waiting to index the rest of my webpages since Google Search Console only allows you to do a certain amount a day then you can only do more after 24 hours. So obviously I am up again and I have 16 views from 14 visitors all from US although this was over 2 30 min periods not one.
So I am not sure if this is some sort of bot, although the Jetpack Askimet Anti-spam says it has blocked 100% of all spam and spam comments. I can see it blocked 2 spam comments yesterday at those weird early hours of the day when my views spiked. One at 1:31am and the other at 3:10am.
I am in South Africa so the time zones may be different for whoever answers.
Please can you tell me if someone is wrong and how to fix it. I only want real views and visitors. The fact that there are spam comments that have to be blocked on my posts has me thinking that there could be some that are going undetected
