Random URL being redirected to my website

Hi, I am seeing a random website (biomedlive.com) being redirected to my website (scirio.in). How is that possible? Isn’t this a security breach? How can I protect my website from my end?

  • Hi there,

So the user rajanikv is the owner and the creator of the site scirio.wordpress.com which you are an administrator on. A week after the site was created (406 days ago), you purchased a domain subscription for the site, scirio.in. However, rajanikv purchased and connected a domain to the account as well, biomedlive.com, last month. That is why you are having these redirection issues.

Are you familiar with the site owner? I would touch base with them in regards to this. Let me know if you have any questions or issues.

    Thanks,

    Hi there,

Thank you for clarifying this for me. Is there a way to shift my domain scirio.in from the current site scirio.wordpress.com because I do not want the owner, rajanikv to access my domain as we no longer work together. He recently (March 6, 2020) transferred the domain scirio.in to my account and I assumed he no longer can access this domain. Please help me out. Thanks!

  • rajanikv is the owner of the WordPress.com site, scirio.wordpress.com, not you, so there is no way to remove them. Your account is just an admin on the site, added after rajanikv created the site. They transferred one of the two domains on the site to you, but they did not transfer ownership of the site or of the Business Plan, which has since expired.

The only way to remove them from the site is if they transferred ownership of the site itself to you as well. They’ll need to contact us themselves for help with that.

I see. Do I have access to delete the domain altogether? I shall then buy back the domain on my new site and restore it.

  • Hi there,

You do not want to delete the domain – there is no guarantee that you will be able to restore it again once deleted. Instead, you can transfer the domain to a different site that you own. You can create the site, and follow the directions on our support page on transferring the domain:

Thank you for your response. Quoting from the given link,

“Only the owner of the custom domain is able to perform this action. All admin users on a site will see domains connected to the site at My Site(s) ->Domains, but only the domain owner can transfer the domain to another site. Transferring ownership of the domain will mean you no longer have access to the domain’s settings, and won’t be able to cancel, renew or transfer it any more – only the new owner will have that ability.”

I am not the owner of the site but an administrator. Hence, I cannot transfer the domain. How can I resolve it?

  • That is correct, only the owner of the domain can transfer it.
