Randomize Gallery widget's display

  I’ve recently been playing with the Gallery widget and have noticed that once it’s in place, regardless of my settings, the slideshow begins with the same image and goes through the same sequence every time the page is loaded. That means a repeat visitor will always see the same few images, even if I’ve included 40 different ones in the gallery. Can WP program the widget so the images and their sequence will be random, and repeat visitors will see different images on each visit? Just a thought.
