    With using a URL with the .Wordpress.com can this site still be ranked on the first page of google?

    This is a good question. Realistically, it depends on what your site is about. Are there a million people writing about this? Or is it a more niche subject? In order to give yourself a fighting chance with SEO, the best advice I have is to register a custom domain. This will augment all of the SEO tools we have built inside of our managed hosting environment at WordPress.com.
