Ransom: Developer has my database

    Help! I hired a developer to create my site but he only finished half the job. Good news is that it is running and I can edit my site, but I am using optimized press and am having problems not being able to allow other services to access my database. After multiple attempts, I’ve given up on the possibility of him transferring the database.

    Problem: Can I backup my site, purchase another domain, and start again without too much trouble?

    Is there a better way?

    That site is not hosted by WordPress.COM. Our support docs do not apply to it and you are posting to the wrong support forum.

    WordPress.COM and WordPress.ORG are completely separate and have different username accounts, logins, features, run different versions of some themes with the same names, and have separate support documentation and separate support forums.     If you don’t have a username account at WordPress.ORG and need support for that site in the future and if you do not have a WordPress.ORG account, then click http://wordpress.org/support/ and register one on the top right hand corner of the page that opens, so you can post to the support forums there.
