Rapid drop in hits-why?

I am blogging from the Middle East ( that may be relevent ).
Over the past week my stats have dropped RAPIDLY. I mean from a three month period of 700-900 hits a DAY to 100-250.
Now i have been posting just as regularly and nothing much has changed in content.
Is anyone else experiencing this?
Is WordPress adjusting stats?
Were the stats falsely high in the first place?
VERY confused.

What I have noticed, and this may or may bot be related, is that today, October 15, my total page views suddenly dropped from 276 to 221 (for today). As total views can only increase within a given day, where have these page views gone? The figure has actually gone up and down several times this morning.

It just shot up to 293 total page views but when I reloaded my stats page it dropped back down to 228.

Based on my Statcounter stats, I know the higher figure is accurate. But I can’t understand why a huge chunk of stats keeps disappearing and reappearing. I’ve emailed wordpress help to ask and will post back when I get a reply.

WordPress support said they were troubleshooting a stats issue earlier today but that it should be sorted out now.
My stats seem back to normal.Regarding your issue, I had a similar drop in traffic a couple of months ago and I think it may have had something to do with google indexing. Have you tested different keywords to see if your site shows up in the results?

Also by linking your name to your blog it will serve the purposes…
If you need to ask a support question in the forum then it will make it easier for the volunteers to see what blogging platform your using & will aide them in giving you a more accurate answer to your question.
