Rating Widget – some custom labels do not get applied

  • Unknown's avatar

Under the advanced settings for the Rating feature, I have translated all “Customized Labels”.

To display the best rated articels, I added the “Top Rated”-Widget to the sidebar. But all the Date-related information (actually the last couple of fields in the customizing label area) are not being shown correctly/with my custom translation.

    Best regards,
    Oliver

Hi Oliver. That doesn’t look like a WordPress.com interface. Perhaps you have a self-hosted WordPress.ORG blog?

No, it’s wordpress.com – just with the German localization active.

Tut mir leid :-$ That’s what happens a volunteer (me) doesn’t use the ratings feature and fails to notice that there is an “Advanced settings” link that appears when they are activated.

I’ll tag this thread for staff attention, since I have no idea why it would do that.

I’ll move this thread to the translation forum.

@1tess I was sent HERE by the German translation forum.

Honestly, I am confused why you seem not to get the point – it’s not about a “translation” – it’s about the fact, that customized labels from the rating-widget/plugin/whatever-it-is do not get applied in the sidebar.

In my screenshots, I tried to explain which customized label text are being correctly applied and which not – as somehow only the last few are affected by this misbehaviour.

Feel free to ask for more details or clarifications, should I still not have explained the nature of my problem. Cheers

To be clear, you are talking about wordpress.COM?
And its translations for widgets and dashboard?

These wp.com forums are using mostly volunteers, including me, so we have no authority to change any official backend technical things. Staff takes care of translations behind the scenes.

Am I misunderstanding that you are trying to clarify a translation for a wordpress.com function?

    Yes, I am definitely talking about wordpress.com (–> http://haberei.wordpress.com/).

It’s about the sidebar widget “Top Rated Articels” (you can see this item in the sidebar of my blog). And it’s regarding a problem, that some of it’s text labels which one can cutomize via Dashboard > Ratings > Advanced Settings (only there if rating is enabled). Some of the labels are not being applied in the mentioned sidebar widget, although some work.
