Re-adding 80 files to my blog: easier way?
-
Here is the nature of my problem and possible solution.
I created 80 aircraft text files with images in Word.
Then the original files were converted to html with links and embedded pictures and included in a hosting contract for the old site.
The site was moved to a new paid hosting arrangement that does not include FTP services for content hosting.
A free wordpress site was created by a consultant for the aircraft information (note wordpress does not include FTP services as well).
Recreating each listing in the new content managed services would have taken 50 -80 hours or more. Not estimated in the services quoted for the new site.
The consultant researched free hosting for these files and could only locate fortunecity as a solution, unaware they were on a black hole list by the Canadian federal government.
The consultant moved the files (it took many hours of ftp time to do so) to the fortunecity site, and I am unable to view or access files on the fortunecity site from my work computer (it gives me an access denied message). (I can view them on my home computer.)
Although it would be easier to leave it as is, I can’t revise the files at fortune city from work, which is where i maintain the site.
QUESTIONS: Should I leave it as is and revise the files at home or redo all the files by adding text and images from the from the original docs? Isn’t there an easier way? Why does it have to be so painstakingly detailed? Why can’t I just post the entire Word file in one click?
Any help/comments appreciated.

First off, what is the link to the wordpress site you are talking about?
The problem here is that you cannot mix plain HTML pages in, nor can you upload them here at wordpress.COM. If the blog was self-hosted on a third-party hosting service such as godaddy, bluehost, etc., then you could make a folder, FTP those HTML pages to that folder, and then incorporate links into the main navigation, or perhaps list them in a separate page, or in a widget in the sidebar.
If you moved to a “paid” hosting arrangement without FTP access, then my suggestion is to look for another website. A hosting package without FTP access is a rip-off.
Your only option on a blog hosted here at wordpress.COM is to copy and paste ONLY the actual content (not all the HTML page coding and such) and then upload the images to the media library here and insert them into the individual pages or posts.
Your other option would be to view those HTML pages in your browser and then create PDF’s of those pages and then upload those files to the media library and then create a page, or a custom menu with links to those files.

Sorry, I thought the site link would come with the message. here it is:
Can I create pdf’s from the Word docs and upload them to the library?

You can upload PDF documents and link to them – they will not show as graphics unless you put the documents on an external reader such as I think Scribed?
The linking is easy – you could also have a graphic from the front page of the PDF and show the graphic with a link to the whole PDF file.
