  Hi there !

  I’m new to all this.

  I have my blog at http://www.staffroomseries.wordpress.com

  When I share this link people are able to click on the YOUTUBE icon and the INSTAGRAM buttons, both direct them to the relevant sites.

  However when I send people to my blog via the referral link I have http://www.staffroomseries.com – the YOUTUBE icon and the INSTAGRAM buttons no longer work.

  Does anybody know why the buttons work when using the .wordpress link but won’t work when i’m using .com link?

  You are using some sort of masking or framing – that leaves fake addresses – and we don’t support what ever you are doing – you are on you own

  much better to map the domain name $ 13.- / year

  Hi – Thanks for this.

  I’ve paid the $13 dollars. I have a quick question

  I’ve followed the domain mapping tutorial and completed it, but we already have a redirection script on our hosting site, do we need to reverse it back to normal now we have domain remapped? http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/

  Abandon all hope if you have a redirect script active :) –

  follow the instructions – also delete the redirect script – make sure your name servers point to WordPress.COM and there is nothing else set to confuse the address –

  Once the name servers are changed to the correct setting & domain mapping is active, it can take 24 to 72 hours for changes to reach the far corners of the internet – access can be erratic during this time – you will probably be the last one to see the changes due to local cashing issues, you can try clearing your browser cache and forcing a page reload

  If you want to use email with your domain name – see below for options – some are free some cost a bit

  I have changed the name servers via the domain so that’s all good (i hope), I have deleted the index.html file that was originally redirecting via ftp on the hosting site.

  Thanks so much for all your help :)

  Took the advice and things are ALMOST there….

  The website is coming through on mobile devices 3G/4G etc but it won’t seem to show on any PC’s using a wifi connection.

  Any particular reason do you thing? Many thanks and sorry to pester again :)

  Some systems just seem to hold onto cached data forever

  At this point keep the faith, try clearing your browser caches and force a page reload.
