when i put a hyper link to on my blog to go to another blog post you have to have a word press account to access it – can it go straight to the blog without having to do this?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hello Rob,

I’m not sure I fully understand it and correct me if I’m far from what you wanted to know. So there is a link on your blog that directs people to another blog post that says something like “Request access”?

Is this other blog post you link to published on your blog? Can you share the link?

If the other blog post is on another blog, published by someone else, it is possible that the other blog’s Privacy is set to Private which means only specific people will be able to view it. You can find more details about Privacy Settings here: support.wordpress.com/settings/privacy-settings

I hope we can figure this out together! :)

    Cheers,
    Gina

    Thanks for info
I have put a hyperlink on one of my blog pages, which directs to another post as a blog post I have also done which so when people press hyper link it takes them to a page where the have to log into WordPress to access it.
All I want is people to get access to this page without having to log in to WordPress
    Does this make sence?
    Thanks
    Rob

    Hello Rob,

I guess, I’m getting closer, thanks for further explaining! Can you please share the hyperlink (just copy and paste it here) you are talking about so I can take a look? :)

    Thanks,
    Gina

    Hi Gina
    If you go to
    https://robnorrismetor.wordpress.com/2016/11/13/welcome-to-my-blog/
And press hyper link see what happens
    Thanks for your help

    Hello Rob,

Thanks for sharing the link, I guess I have a clue now. :)

Try to go to you “Welcome To My Blog” post in Edit mode. Find the broken hyperlink there and click on it (make sure you are in the Visual editor mode). A little tab should pop up with a pencil icon and an X on it. Click on the pencil and change the URL to this (copy and paste):

    https://robnorrismetor.wordpress.com/2016/11/13/why-is-attraction-marketing-so-important/

This is the blog post you want to point to, right?

(Alternatively, you can select your other blog post from the “Link to existing content” list after clicking on the pencil.)

Let me know if it helps!

    Cheers,
    Gina

    Yes it works
    Thank you
I want the post only viewable when people click the hyperlink – at present it’s showing up as a blog post on my actual blog but I only want it to show when people click the hyper link
Is this possible? If so how do I do it?
    Thanks for your help

    Hello Rob,

Um, it is just a guess again but what if you go back to the Edit mode, click on the hyperlink again, then the pencil and uncheck the “Open link in a new window/tab” box. So then, when someone clicks the hyperlink on your blog it will not open in a new tab and look like something “separated”. Does it make sense? Is it what you were looking for?

    Cheers,
    Gina

    Hi Gina,

Its a post that has been published on my blog and is showing on my blog posts but I really am only looking for it to be seen when someone presses the hyperlink. Does this make sense?
    Thanks

    Hello Rob,

So you want to kinda hide this blog post from the Recent Posts list on your sidebar and make it unavailable from the Categories drop down menu there too?

You just want to have the link in your welcome blog post to point people to “Why Is Attraction Marketing So Important”, right?

You can remove both the Recent Posts and Categories widgets from your sidebar, as one solution. In case you want to keep those,

you can remove the Attraction Marketing category from your blog post so it will not be listed in the Categories widget or

you can change the post date of your Attraction Marketing blog post to make it older and not recent. Here you can find a guide how to do it: support.wordpress.com/schedule-a-post

(You can uncheck the box in the Recent Posts widget to not Display post date.)

    Are we getting closer? :)

    Cheers,
    Gina
