Re naming the categories

    I am 123 posts old in wordpress.com Looking back, I wish I had done a better job with choosing the category names with better keywords. Is it a good idea? I suppose, on a long run, it will help my blog due to better keywords in the categories. Am I right? I also want to know how far it is going to hurt my search engine friendliness in the short term?     Going back and changing categories in old posts is not going to help enough to make it worth doing. You will not be on the front page for those categories in the Global Tag Pages, and thus the SEO they can deliver you is low. Don’t bother, just be more strategic about categories in the future.

    I agree and point out that changing your categories now on posts that have already been indexed by search engines will create 404s (page not found – broken link) for any of those who use search engines to locate the URL for your posts bu category, and who click in on the original category URLs.
