Re-ordering posts

    Hi,

I’ve been trying to find out how to re-order my posts but with no success.
Is there any way of doing this?

    Thanks

    Kyle

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

We need a link to the blog in question starting with http:// so we can give you correct answers to your questions.
    Please post it.

In blogs posts are displayed in reverse chronological order in accord with their date and time stamps with the latest post on top and this cannot be reversed if that’s what you are asking.
Please also expand on what you mean by “how to re-order my posts”.

    The URL is http://www.kylenewton.wordpress.com

When I say re-order I mean – Not reverse the order but be able to change the order of the posts as it’s part of my coursework which I’m constantly adding to and thinking of new ideas, and when the examiner reads it, it’d be nice if they didn’t have to sift through the work in order to make sense of it all.

Please note that every URL for a post contains a datestamp. Example (bold lettering added by me) > http://kylenewton.wordpress.com/2011/03/29/frontcover-design-anlysis-1/

Every URL is indexed by search engines spiders and appears in search engine results. Editing that post and changing the datestamp results in a broken URL link every time you do that. It is never recommended that we muck with this — ever! The result of a broken URL is that when visitors click it they gate a “404” message – page not found. So if you change the dates and break the original URLs you will indeed be creating a “404” when they click in.

YIKES! I forgot to close the strong tag. Sorry. I only meant to place the date in bold lettering.

Here’s how to link your username to your blog in your blog Dashboard -> Users -> Personal Settings -> then scroll down to Account Details. Then scroll down to where it says ‘Website‘ select the URL for your primary wordpress.com blog and then save changes.

Now every time you sign into the forum we can all click on your username and your blog will be linked to it. And every time you leave a comment on a blog your username can be likewise clicked and your blog can be instantly located.

I’m not interested in anyone seeing this other than the examiner so this shoudln’t pose a problem right?

So is there a solution to my question? :/

You can update any post by editing it and adding new information to it. So if you have a post you update you don’t need to muck with the datestamp at all. You edit the post > http://en.support.wordpress.com/posts/edit-posts-screen/ and then you type in your update.

Updated March 30th, 2011 to include new information:
    blah blah blah blah blah

That’s not an option though :/ I was thinking the same but when I asked my teacher he said that I also get marked on how I separate my work into different posts…

It’s for my A levels so is quite important unfortunately :/
The only other way then I guess is to copy and paste all the posts and then change the titles and sort through it that way, which is going to be very time consuming o.O

Thanks for the username linking thing by the way.

If your blog visibility is set to “private” then search engine spiders will not be able to enter it and index the content and it will not appear in search engine results. If that’s the case then you can change datestamps as frequently as you like. Please see here > http://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/privacy-settings/
