Re-Purchasing a Previous Domain

Hello. I work for Second Harvest Food Bank of NWPA in Erie, PA. WordPress would not let me long in with my @nwpafoodbank.org email so I logged in with my Google account because I really need help and could not seem to get into contact with you any other way. Prior to being nwpafoodbank.org, we owned eriefoodbank.org. We let our contract on the eriefoodbank domain name run out since everything had been moved over to nwpafoodbank.org for years. However, many of our contacts still have not updated our emails in their contact lists, and since emails are no longer being forwarded from the @eriefoodbank addressed to the @nwpafoodbank addresses, a lot of important information is being missed. We are looking into repurchasing that domain name and getting our emails up and running again. Is this possible? And if so, much would would it cost us? Thank you so much!

  • Hi, @tpaige51015!

I’ve tagged this post with modlook so that one of the WordPress.com Happiness Engineers can try to help you get that domain back. You can find more information on the domain renewal redemption period here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/domain-expiration/#redemption-period

    Good luck! :)

  • Hi tpaige51015 –

I won’t be much help but I can get you pointed in the right direction.

Neither eriefoodbank.org or nwpafoodbank.org are connected to our service.

There are 2 versions of WordPress. What we do at WordPress.com is a bit different from using the open source installation of WordPress which is what these sites use. Take a look at: https://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

They are currently hosted with GoDaddy (not WordPress.com). My best advice is to contact them directly for assistance with your email situation. I don’t have the access needed to help further.

Lastly, the WordPress community forums are available as well. To access those you’ll head over to wordpress.org/support/

Fun fact – I was born and raised in Erie :) Best wishes!
