Re-use previous URL
-
Hi,
I would like to know if deleting a blog makes its wordpress.com URL available again, even for the same wordpress user, and if so, after what amount of time is it available again (1min ? 24h ? a week ?)
Thanks you very much !
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
The answer is – sorry but that is a no can do. To prevent accidental or inadvertent deletion of blogs, there are multiple warnings given that blog deletion is permanent and irreversible. Lastly, a verification link is sent in an email and it must be clicked to delete a blog. If clicking that link does not work then copy and paste it into your upper browser window and click. Once the verification link for deletion is clicked the blog URL is forever gone, gone, gone.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/delete-site/Deleted blog URLs are not recycled, regardless of who registered and deleted them and no exceptions are made.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/recycling-blog-names/You can register another .wordpress.com blog http://en.support.wordpress.com/register-a-blog/
Then if you wish to you can register a domain via a domain mapping upgrade because it does not matter what the underlying .wordpress.com address is when you are domain mapping.

Ok, thanks a lot for your answer.
Does it mean that I simply change (and not delete) the URL of site A to another one, the now unused previous URL of site A won’t either be available for site B ?
No blog is deleted in the process, only:
“Blog A with URL A” becomes “Blog A withURL C”
and
“Blog B with URL B” becomes “Blog B with URL A”, as URL A was liberated.Does this work, or is URL A as dead as if blog A had been deleted ?
Thanks a lot

It means that if you delete any WordPress.com blog URL it is gone forever and cannot be recycled.
