Re-using post titles?

I started a blog a week ago to track my workouts because my old tattered notebook was feeling a bit archaic. I have the permalinks set to:

    http://(URL)/2010/08/28/saturday/

Where Friday is the post name. I really prefer this structure, but after a week I’ve found that I can’t repeat post titles, and I now get:

    http://(URL)/2010/09/04/saturday-2/

This is extremely nitpicky, but I don’t like the “-2” after the saturday. Is it possible to re-use a post title, so that my urls always end with just the name of the day of the week? I only plan to post once per day, so I don’t see why this would be a problem because the /year/month/date/ structure of the url should differentiate which post is which.

WordPress.COM URLs are not adaptable the way you want. They will always add the -n to the title URL.

I suggest you use Categories instead. That way you click on Friday in the category widget and up come all the Friday posts, so you can compare. Very handy for a journal of progress, let me tell you.

With a database driven system like wordpress, it will always want unique titles or it will make them unique. Also, it is bad to have a bunch of posts with the same name when it comes to search engines (even though the URL is different due to the date).
