Reaaaally messed up my domain.. I think?
-
Hi, I joined WordPress a few years ago and had this one, zachsirmons.wordpress.com active but left it alone. Eventually changed the dates and what not. Anyway I was wanting to move back over to this one, so I purchased the domain (my name) zachsirmons.com for $18 and had it registered, however I was trying to change the contact information…why, it seems like such a minute detail, but at the time I wanted to make everything “perfect.” I happened to $@&^#^ delete the whole domain because I was confused, thinking I had just made a whole new website, but only wanted it to redirect to my WordPress site.
Anyhow, I just deleted my domain name that I just bought not even an hour ago. As dumb as I feel, I want it back, but how long would I have to wait in order to re-purchase zachsirmons.com again?
I feel so dumb, and I’m a noob, so go easy on me.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I flagged this for staff help, but in the meantime can you try repurchasing it? AND DO NOT DELETE ANYTHING. As long as you don’t delete anything, things can be fixed. Deleted things cannot be conjured up again easily, if at all.
-
Someone has flagged this for the staff to see if they can fetch your domain name for you

I feel like such a dumb ass, and @raincoaster that was my main intention….Every time I try to repurchase it (which at this point would be fine with me, I’m transferring ALL of my blogs, notes, pictures, and all other junk to WordPress as it is) At this point I’d be willing to pay another $18. When I try to re-register it, it does say…
“Oh no! zachsirmons.com is already registered.
If you own this domain you can map it to your site by following the instructions below. If you don’t own this domain, go back and try another domain name.”
it says I own it, but where the heck to I gain access to it then? Its apparently removed from wordpress, every time I type http://www.zachsirmons.com in my URL it says “Error: Domain mapping upgrade for this domain not found.”
Gah I really feel like I fd this up.
-
For some reason I’m guessing once the whole refund process starts and finishes, my guess is it will eventually it will reopen the domain and allow me to repurchase it and re-assign it to my WordPress blog …but any guesses on how long that might take?
Overall reasoning why I’m even doing this and why I didn’t just stick with Facebook is I’m doing a class next semester where we have to have live portfolios of our stuff and I wanted to keep my Facebook stuff still somewhat private while having a place to put everything we need

What do you see at: Dashboard >> Store >> My Upgrades?
Your domain name might be in limbo a bit – be patient – if anyone can fix it for you the staff can or they can give you advice to fix things
Keep the faith and don’t panic
-
Lol, I’m not panicing just yet, just anxious yet frustrated at myself for doing this!
I see this: “You don’t currently have any active subscriptions on WordPress.com, If you would like to customize your sites look or feel, or add a custom domain, you should consider purchasing an upgrade in our Store.”
When I go to store though it gives me the first option to add a domain, and if I go through it, I can enter it but it gives me the same thing, “Oh no! zachsirmons.com is already registered.” or whatever.
I really appreciate the advice and the help for what it is worth!
-
Wait. Did you buy the DOMAIN MAPPING upgrade as well? It’s perfectly possible for you to own the domain name and to have failed to connect it to the blog.

You would not have seen “”You don’t currently have any active subscriptions on WordPress.com, If you would like to customize your sites look or feel, or add a custom domain, you should consider purchasing an upgrade in our Store.”” if you had successfully purchased the $13 mapping upgrade. Let’s hang tight and wait for staff to sort this out. At least the domain is off the market and safe somewhere.
-
Good call. Fingers crossed. Thanks again. And yeah haha thank God it is off the market, but thank God I have an uncommon name..
-
I’ve contacted the domain registrar to see if they restore the domain. I’ll keep you informed.
Thank you.

The domain is back in your account. It will expire at May 25, 2014. You can manage your upgrades at https://zachsirmons.wordpress.com/wp-admin/paid-upgrades.php?page=my-upgrades
