Reaction to New Dashboard 98% Negative

I don’t like it. Some operations now need more clicks for getting things done, like adding an image. The new design is poor and less friendly than the old one and the first page of the Dashboard now is full of useless/duplicated items, like “Write a new page” and Stats.

I’m sorry guys, I love WP.com and I really appreciate your hard work, but this is not an evolution.

    Make that 99% negative…

I can’t navigate easily between a draft post and the dashboard. The new dashboard is not so intuitive as the previous version.

PLEASE reconsider this version and update it/restore the old one.

    I still love WordPress.

Despite just fighting with a disappearing page list while attempting to iron out a rearrangement of pages that involved putting in some redirects, I think I like the new dashboard. Was consideration given though to doing what Journalspace did and allowing the option of reverting to the old setup if people chose to? (WP is much better than Journalspace though. I know, having used both.)

Make it 99.5%. You have to scroll down the posting page to get at key features.

More serious, I am getting an I/O error when I try to upload jpg’s.

    Didn’t they user test this?

    I HATE IT

I cannot say that strongly enough.
I just wrote a post, cut and pasted some text in, inserted a photo and published, and 80% of my entry vanished when I clicked submit.

If I cannot create a simple post, then this spells disaster. I cannot be “off air” and have my blog survive.

Never mind how much more difficult it now is to insert images, add categories on the fly, choose a publish time etc. I want all the options right there at the time, not popups for everything.

    This is disasterous.

Ok, perhaps a bit strong, but I’m not a fan of change of something that was doing the job. And 80% of my first post under the new regime did vanish, which is NOT a good introduction.

I’m sure I’ll get used to it, (and perhaps even welcome it), but I’m currently missing the very functional interface I am used to. So long as other post content doesn’t just vanish, I’ll be ok (breathing into the paper bag)

The media library is nice – much easier. The widget page isn’t as good – I liked the old drag and drop method of widget layout.

WordPress.COM is not a (free) destination. It is a (free) process.

Remember too we can always use WordPress.ORG, and download the prior dashboard scheme if you want it that bad. All you’ll need to do that is hosting. WordPress.ORG is also (free).

Do really like it but what are you gong to do—it’s free. Anyway, I write most everything in Word then copy and paste to notepad then copy and paste in to WordPress.

    WordPress,

Are you hearing the pleas of the community? I’ve never seen such a negative response to a change as this new Dashboard has engendered.

Please, listen to the members and return the old Dashboard. This is quickly becoming a public relations nightmare for WordPress.

I’m pretty happy with the make-over. I love the multiple upload gallery function, in particular. Although I was surprised when the make-over occured, as I wasn’t expecting it so soon after the launch of 2.5, I spent about 60 seconds going through the logic of navigation and it all seems to make sense. I’m sure some things will need some minor re-adjustments, but I think you’ve got the fundamentals right. Thanks for your efforts, guys.
