Reactivate Domain for New WordPress Account

    Hi!

    I registered for a domain yesterday (rachelbhaledesign.com) but realized I wanted to create a WordPress linked to my (email visible only to moderators and staff) account rather than my personal gmail.

    I cancelled both the domain (above) and my previous account ((email visible only to moderators and staff)).

    Is there anyway to reactivate my domain and I can link it to my new account?

    Dear Rachel,

    Did you register this domain (rachelbhaledesign.com) with WordPress.com, if you register the domain with wordpress then you can transfer the domain to another site/account on WordPress. I.e from your old site or administrator to your new site/account.

    @rachelbhaledesign It looks like you’ve canceled the domain name, meaning you no longer own it.

    Please let us know which of these options works best for you to retrieve it:

    Wait: You can wait about five days from cancellation for the domain to be released. So long as no one else buys it before you do, you can purchase it again with another provider.

    Repurchase the Domain: We can send an invoice and restore the domain. You’ll be able to point it to a new host as soon as it’s restored, then transfer the registration after 60 days.

    Repurchase a Plan: To host your site here after all, buy a plan, skip the domain option, then update us here.

    NOTE: we need authorization to do this from the account that originally purchased the domain, which is a different account than the one you’re logged into now. You can log out and log back into the account that originally made the purchase and reply to this forums thread.

    Once the domain is recovered we can help you with the transferring of the domain to the correct user account.

    I cancelled the original WordPress account yesterday after I purchased/cancelled the domain. Does that mean the “repurchase a plan” is no longer an option? I created the new WordPress account and was hoping I could repurchase the domain and add it to that account. Is that possible?

    Hi there,

    You should have received an email when you canceled the original WordPress.com account. If it has been less than 30 days, you can respond to that email you received from us and say that you actually want the account restored. Our Account Recovery Team will then restore the account for you and then we can proceed with restoring the domain.

    If you cannot find the email, please contact passwordhelp@wordpress.com from the email connected to the closed account and reference this thread. Then, post back here once you have reached out to the AR team, and we’ll get the process started ASAP since we’re working with limited time.
