Reactivate website

  My domain is now deactivated, therefore, can not access my WP site. Although, it was not a live site at the time – but something I had been working on. Is there a way of getting back the site I had been working on (with or without the same domain name). About two months have passed so I can’t simply reactivate it again. Or is the website i was building directly linked to that specific domain name and therefore gone.

  Also, i had last paid for three years for this domain, so not sure how/why it’s now deactivated? This was Nov 2018, so should be valid until Nov 2021.

  Many thanks for that information.

  It doesn’t look like WordPress.com is the domain registrar for: theelementsofher.com.au – can you remember who that could be? If yes, you would need to contact them about this deactivation.

  Looking at a DNS history tool: https://dnsspy.io/scan/theelementsofher.com.au it looks like the site may have been built at Siteground.

  Hi! thanks for that. That does help however that only part answers my query. If I reactivate that domaine name through SiteGround, will I be able to pick up where I left off in terms of my site layout etc?

  Alternatively, if I’m not able to get my domain name back, can I still use the existing site layout I’d create and attach a different domain name to it? If so, how?

  Hello there,

  You would need to speak to Siteground about the specifics of that: https://www.siteground.co.uk/support

  I suspect there’s a temporary domain for the installation with them you can use whilst the intended domain gets recovered.

  If you’re not able to get the original domain back, then you probably would need to seek an alternative.

  Hi! I have since worked out the issue. It’s not my domain that has expired but my hosting with SiteGround. Question though, do I need an external host to have a site on WP?

  No, We host the site for you, and hosting with WordPress.com is absolutely free.
