Reactivating an old WordPress Website
-
I’m wondering what I need to do to reactivate an old WordPress website that hasn’t been active since 2015. Does WordPress provide hosting and if so then how do I obtain it or do I need to go through a hosting company?

Hi,
Is this a site that still exists on the internet somewhere that you have lost your login info for? If so, what is the URL?
Or is this a site that once existed, hasn’t existed for years, and you’d like to exist again?

Hi,
It’s a site I paid a company like Go Daddy to host back in 2015 that I want to reactivate again. I also want to update the login info since I no longer have the old email I used when I signed up.

I’m wondering if all need to do is pay a hosting company to get it back online?
Plus if I remember right the site itself actually needs some work done on it that I don’t know how to do.
Thanks for your response!

Thanks for that information. Your site was not hosted with WordPress.com but instead a site using the open-source WordPress software (from WordPress.org ) but hosted elsewhere.
We cannot access files or data for sites that are hosted elsewhere, so WordPress.com staff can only assist with sites that are hosted on our servers. But, I can get you pointed in the right direction.
Typically when you stop paying a hosting company, that host will delete any and all of your site files from their servers. If you did not download a full website backup (including your media and databases), your site is probably gone for good.
You can try and reach out to GoDaddy to see if by chance they retained a backup of your site – but since it’s been a number of years since you cancelled your hosting it’s not very likely they would still have that data.
Sorry that I don’t have better news for you. :(
