I use the TwentyEleven theme, and I want my blog posts on the home page to appear shorter, with the ‘read more’ line at the end. Is that a widget or setting? I am such a rookie…
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi Bobbie,
If I remember correctly, the way the theme for a non-premium .com site sets up a post is how the theme creator chose to build it. I use a theme that does not show anything but a post title and photo.
If you upgrade I think with some css work you can then change that look.
If you really do need a read more tag and rather not show some or any of your post, you can find a alternative theme.

More Tag
You can truncate your blog entries so that only the first part of certain posts is displayed on the home and archive pages. When you do this, a link will be placed directly after your excerpt, pointing the reader to the full post. You can find the More Tag button in the first row of the visual editor toolbar or by pressing Alt+Shift+T. You can also customize your “read more” message, and fix formatting issues.
