Hi guys, I have added three individual pages to my main menu that display specific categories of my blog. One display the posts with the category blogs, the other the one with the category books an the other with the category videos. However, while the page displaying the blog-category posts allow me to add the ´read more´break inthe editor and shows as such in the published entry, the posts that appear in the other two categories do not allow me to break the test in the editor to show just the beginning of the entry. This is important in the category books because the posts there are going to be long. Would you mind letting me know if the read more is not working because of a bug, or what I should do. I am using the classic editor by the way. Many thanks in advance. Teresa

To further add. After I posted my email I noticed that the break line for read more was being added in a position that wasn’t where I had the cursor or where I had decided, like the editor would add it wherever it wanted. Since then, I have removed the isolated category from my blog and left it with the blog category, and now the breaking line works without a problem. So I think it is a bug or a glitch of the system.

  • Hi there!

What’s the address of the site you’re working on?

Please note that these forums are for WordPress.com hosted sites only. If your site is using the open-source WordPress.org software, we won’t be able to help you out and you’ll want to seek help at these forums:

Hi there, yes, I am hosting my website on WP through SiteGround. https://insidedreamsdreamwork.com

  • Your site is not hosted with WordPress.com. It is a site using the open-source WordPress software (from WordPress.org) but hosted with Siteground.

Because WordPress.com and WordPress.org are two entirely separate entities, we cannot access files or data for sites that are hosted elsewhere, so WordPress.com staff can only assist with sites that are hosted on our servers. You can find more information here about the differences between WordPress.org software and WordPress.com: https://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

https://wordpress.org/support/ is a great resource for sites using the open source WordPress.org software, and you can find support for that at: https://wordpress.org/support/forums/
