Under each blog entry there is a “Read More” linking to the rest of the text. How do I get rid of this and show the full text of each blog?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)
-
We need a link to the site you are talking about. The one linked to your username has no content whatsoever.
-
Which blog and which theme are your referring to? Please post an active link unless it’s the one linked to your username here. This is not a CSS editing question that pertains to the Albeo theme on the blog linked to your username. Some themes do provide automatic extracts (Fusion, Inuit Types, Types, Hemingway) and all that do can be set to display full posts. In fact in the vast and overwhelming majority of theme we have to insert “the more tag” to achieve this excerpts on the front page at all.
-
Couldn’t you just edit any post you want with the HTML editor and remove the <more> code to get the entire post to show?
I’m assuming maybe you don’t want all your posts like that… but you could manually edit all of them to achieve that if you wanted.

For all we know at this point in time the blog may not even be referring to a free hosted WordPress.com blog. Even if the OP is referring to a free hosted WordPress/com blog they may be referring to a theme that’s set up to do this automatically. If it’s the Hemingway theme then what you propose will not work as the two excerpts display on the front page is coded into the template. -
Also might not even be a WordPress anything site – a link to the site is needed for accurate help by the proper people. Could even be a Jombula or Dot-Net-Nuke site.
-
And it’s it’s another WordPress.com theme that automatically supplies excerpts on the front page then all that may need to be done is go here > Appearance > Theme Options and deselect that display option. But as I said above, we don’t know enough at this point in time to provide a solution. The key questions we need answers to are:
Which blogs is it? (What’s the URL?)
And which theme is being used? -
Wow…. sorry for even offering a simple suggestion. Didn’t expect to get my head bitten off.
I guess I’ll wander off then if only “the proper people” can offer anything…. (Yes… consider me just a wee bit offended…)
-
@mistressneko – you mean well – however giving the wrong advice can be more frustrating than no help – most of us in the forum have given advice that turned out to be way not possible because we did not check the URL – the poor person as timetheif noted above might not be able to follow some of the advice given – the person then spends a lot of time an usually gets very upset because the advice would not work – they are then very frustrated and have wasted a lot of time – the time of the person trying to help is also wasted because they answered the wrong question.
So that is why we try and check the URL, so the advice is accurate.

Hey there. I like you and sympathized with you re: the issues you had to take to Staff in another thread. was not at all biting your head off. I was just supplying information so you knew and the OP that each of the over 100 themes here is a unique design. Please don’t be so quick to judge. We Volunteers are all multitasking and doing the best we can to help those who post to this peer support forum. It takes just as much energy to choose to be offended as it does to deliberately offend and auxclass and I were not aiming to offend you. Please don’t choose to be offended. -
Sorry if I got a little hot…. a quick walk around the block later and I’m much cooler. My suggestion was meant more in the spirit of looking at the question in the simplest terms rather than something more intricate…. sometimes more knowledgeable people “overthink” a problem when what is being asked is might actually be much simpler.
He hadn’t mentioned any particular theme or situation, he’s even newer here than me, so I wondered if his problem might be just knowing how to do a basic post edit in HTML if all he’s tried is the visual editor. My suggestion was offered in the idea that it certainly couldn’t mess things up worse if I was wrong.
Trust me… as somebody sitting around waiting for my own problem to get solved, I’m more inclined to be happy for suggestions…. any suggestions…. even the mistaken ones…. offered me as help. I just assume others feel the same as well….
In any event… I’m sorry I snapped. I meant well.
