Read more button

  I have noticed that only some of the themes for blogs come with a ‘read more’ button, that comes up after a segment of each blog on the home page. I was wondering wether the ones that come with that button, are the only ones that can have it, or if there is a way that I can add it to other themes. (I am using the ‘twenty twelve’ theme and only wish to use free ones for now)
