"Read more" in a page

  I am currently developing my new blog and I added a new page, where I write some information about me. However, while writing this information, I just want to make a short introduction and adding then a “Read more” button in the page to people who want to know more.

  The problem is that despite adding the “Read more” button in the editor, it does not appear in the preview nor the updated page if I save the changes.

  So that is the question. How I add a “Read more” button in a page?

  The more-tag doesn’t work in pages, only in posts. The pagination-tag will do the trick: http://en.support.wordpress.com/splitting-content/nextpage/

  However, consider that if someone already clicked through to the about page you can safely assume that they want to read it and adding another step to the process might just irritate them. An alternative could be to place the short intro in a text widget on your home page sidebar and include a link to your about page from there.

  Thanks for the quick response and the suggestions. However, I saw in other posts that a code could be added to solve the problem as well. Searching more information I have found this link

  There is a code in the paragraph “How to use Read More in Pages”, but it does not work for me. It seems that I use it wrong due to my lack of programming knowledge or, as you say, it really is not possible to add the more-tag.

  Anyway, is there a solution like a plug-in or a drop-down menu just by clicking or passing the mouse over it? It is more the way I am looking for.

  If you look carefully at the link you posted you’ll see it’s from the wordpress.ORG support pages. You are on wordpress.COM. Even though both are wordpress, .com and.org are completely different and separate and what works in one does not necessarily work in the other (http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/). You’ll notice that plugins are also not available to us here.

  Here is the correct support doc for the more-tag: http://en.support.wordpress.com/splitting-content/more-tag/ On wordpress.com you can only customise how it displays and you can’t use it in pages.
