'Read more of this post'
-
I’d like to know how to display only part of my post in a [new post] email notification to followers. Currently when a [new post] notification is sent to my followers the entire post is displayed. So the reader doesn’t actually need to visit the blog to read it because it is all already there for them.
I use the Theme ‘Chateau’.
Can you please help me change this so that people actually have a reason to visit my blog.
Thanks. The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I’m pretty sure I got that through Dashboard/Settings/Reading and in For Each Article In A Feed choosing “Summary” rather than “Full Text”.

Thanks, I have made this change. I did see this when I was looking for the option and thought maybe it was for displaying a summary of the post on the site. I didn’t want to make the change because I had just published a new post and didn’t want to cause confusion or a ‘meltdown’.
Thanks again.

That is correct: you can make your feed a summary in your feed that way.
Also, you can use the “read more” tag to specify the first part of a post as you like.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/splitting-content/more-tag/A bonus is that Chateau supports custom excerpts so you can include formatting and images if you like. The custom excerpts can show images, font color, paragraphs and so on (no embedded things like YouTube though) as well as specify what shows in the “magazine” style of older posts on Chateau.
The custom excerpt can have teasers which don’t duplicate the first few lines of your post.

Here is the wp.com article about custom excerpts:
