  You can’t use it on pages. It only works on posts.

  You can use the “next page” tag on pages (and posts) though. You have to add it manually in the HTML tab.

  It’s very common for people to put in the Read More tag, then look at that unique page and think it didn’t go in; it displays only on the front page, not on that specific page post.

  Change the read more tag like this

  <!--more--> to <!--nextpage-->

  The next page HTML code is what you need for your page.
