'Read More' tag & Continue Reading Not Working
-
Using ‘Forever’ Theme. The ‘Read More’ tag does not work on my posts. I’m new to blogging, I just made my blog and I wan’t to have the Read More on my first post before I publish it.
I make a new post, attach 2-3 pictures to it, and what I want is for it to simply just show the name of the post, and the pictures, and then read more, to read the text that I’ve put with it.
I’ve been sitting with this for hours, reading forums ect and I’m absolutely about to pull my hair out in frustration.
One thing I’ve noticed is people saying on forums of the same topic – go to front page templates and write/replace this and that code, and this should work. I am new, WHERE AND HOW do I find/enter these templates??? Can it be done on the web?? Please tell me which tab i have to click ect to find these templates and edit them if that’s what I need to do too?

The setting here > Settings > Reading is only for the RSS Feed summary and does not affect the posts.
If you want to display only excerpts on the front page of the blog followed by read more links, you can insert “the more tag” into each post prior to publication.
http://en.support.wordpress.com/splitting-content/more-tag/Alternatively, you can switch to using a theme that automatically displays front page excerpts. This is a list of active themes on WordPress.com that use the excerpt instead of full post content. Here are the themes that do provide that feature > https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/theme-with-automatic-excerpts?replies=13#post-1396410

“Reading is only for the RSS Feed summary and does not affect the posts.” I don’t see that line anywhere under settings > reading, unfortunately :(
the more tag link doesn’t work, I need guidance how to fix the issue, not how to use the tag, I know how to use it.~ do you know how to fix this issue without me having to just change theme? it must be possible.
Thanks! :)

The more tag most certainly works. You put the cursor where you want the break, you click the button, you Update the post, and you’re done.
You have only one post. It’s possible you’ve even written it as a Page, in which case the More tag doesn’t work. Make sure it’s a Post not a Page, and make at least one more post and then look on the main page of the blog.

It is a post, not a page. – and no, it certainly doesn’t work! – again, I know how to use the tag! So again I ask, does anyone know what may cause this problem and how to fix it??
Please do listen to what I’m saying and asking, and answer the real question here.

that would be a no then..
Thanks. I’ll probably end up leaving it, or put all settings back to default (if that’s possible) in case of it being my own unknown doing…Once I get bored of this theme I’ll change it to a theme that does it automatically cause all this hassle is more work than it’s worth lol.
