Read More tag edits not reflected in published post
-
Hi – I am editing the Read More tag in my post, but the text is not reflected in my published post. I have done this before many times, but with this new theme, it does not seem to be taking effect. Please advise if this is a known issue with the ‘Rebalance’ theme, or if others have experienced this issue, and what causes it please. Kind regards

Hi hopnut,
I am editing the Read More tag in my post, but the text is not reflected in my published post.
I can see you’ve added a More Tag to ‘Fash in Premier triumph’ and it’s working correctly. The tag is inserted after ‘held the OOD at arms reach‘ in the editor and a more link appears after that:

Are you having the problem on a specific post?

Hi Gemma
Yes, problem is on that post.
I have edited the Read More tag to read “Click to read on”
<!–more Click to read on–>
But this edit is having no effect. This has worked for me on the Pilcrow theme in the past. Is it an issue specifically with this (Rebalance) theme?
Many thanks

Hi hopnut,
I have edited the Read More tag to read “Click to read on”
Oh I see what you mean now. If you insert a more tag with the default text, it works as expected. But adding custom text to the more tag breaks it — all of the text displays.
I’ve just tested some other themes and the issue doesn’t appear to be specific to Rebalance. However, I think you may have uncovered a bug so I’m going to create a bug report.
In the meantime, inserting a more tag with the default text should work.

I have tested this on one of my other sites, and it works fine.
The other site itf1011.wordpress.com is using the Pilcrow theme. You will see the latest post reads ‘Click to read on’.
So it seems to be theme specific to me.
Thanks

Yes I’ve done some more testing and experienced the same, it’s not working as expected on Rebalance.
I’ll let you know the outcome of the bug report.

Howdy!
Thanks for bringing this issue to our attention. We’ve made a change to Rebalance and now custom “Read More” text should show up as expected.
I hope this helps!
Cheers,
