“Read More” tag – how to make it work?
-
Hey!
I’ve been trying to figure out how to get the “Read more” function to kick in. I have searched through the forum and also the support site. However without any luck on getting it to work.
I follow the instructions and such but it just DOES NOT WORK.I’m trying to cut the text right after “Kolla in ANNs definition av moe” but when I publish the subpage there is no READ MORE. It’s like I never put it in the page in the first place. What am I doing wrong? I have seriously tried most of the stuff.
If anyone out there knows what the heck I can do about it, please do let me know!

Sorry, forgot to write that it’s the very last paragraph, Moe, that I need to cut as a “Read More”

It looks like you’re trying to use the More tag in a page, not a post. That’s not what the tag is designed for. It’s for use in posts that appear on your main blog page, so that when you click on the direct link of the post, you can see the whole text. Because pages always appear on their own (rather than in the dynamically updating list of posts) you can always see the whole thing.

Ah… ok. Well, that makes sense :/ although it wasn’t really the answer that I was looking for but thanks!

I’m having the same issue! I’m using the Grid Focus theme, and i don’t seem to be able to make the “read more” link work in a post. here’s the link http://bookbench.wordpress.com/2009/02/22/leadership-book/
Please help me. [removed email addresss – hanni]

Don’t post your email in a forum; spammers will have a field day.
And the More tag is working. The reason you don’t see it when you look at that post in isolation is, you’re looking at the post that the Read More tag will take you to when you click on it. If you look at the front of the blog, you’ll see it’s truncated after “at work.”
