Read More tag not working properly

  I usually truncate my posts. Today whenever I try to insert the read more tab after the first few lines, it appears at the very bottom of the post and not where I want it (or anywhere but the bottom.) Please can someone help? Thanks.

  From the More Tag help document:

  2. Add the “Read More” tag somewhere in the post.

  Place your cursor at the spot in the post where you want the More Tag to appear. In your Visual Editor’s toolbar, click on the the “Insert Read More tag” button. You can find the More Tag button in the first row:

  You successfully did this several times in your blog so something has changed, we just need to figure out what.

  Thanks Dave. Yes, I have always used this tag and never experienced any problems before now so I have no idea what has changed.

  Except that I copied quite a lot of the text over from somewhere else – in the past I have written either in word or in wordpress. Maybe I need to try reormatting the copy (even though it looks fine).

  I reformatted the text, it now looks exactly the same, only it allows me to insert ‘read more’. So peculiar, because I did alter the text in many ways, and it allowed me to do all kinds of other things, just not insert that tag. Thank you for making me think of what I did differently.
