Read More/Continue Reading not working?

  Up until recently, whether I was in classic editor or the new editor, I was able to insert the ‘Continue Reading’ line break anywhere I wanted too on my posts. I tried this the other night and again today, same as I have before, but once I view the post, the break is not there.   That is my newest post I tried installing it on, but it is not working on any of my recent posts. Has this tab changed somehow?
