Reader

Please can someone help me understand how the reader works? I did think some of my first posts automatically shared onto the reader? I can’t see any now tracking back. Or to make a post appear on the reader do you have to do something I dunno share it or something to make that happen? It would be nice if people were able to see some of my work but I am not sure anyone has visited my blog yet, thanks.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi
As a starting point, take a look at this page with troubleshooting information.
Why aren’t my posts showing on the Reader tag pages?
- To appear on the Reader tag pages, your site must be public and able to be indexed by search engines. You can check the site visibility settings in My Site → Settings → General.
- Make sure you’re looking at the correct language in the Reader.
I searched for your domain in Reader and the only site with entries that comes up is this one: https://theworldisyourlobster.wordpress.com/
Perhaps check that you’ve set your site visibility correctly?

Hi there,
We have detailed documentation on how the Reader works, here:
Shortly, all posts from all sites on WordPress.com or connected here via the Jetpack plugin appear in the Reader by default, but only to people who are following the site.
Your posts can also be listed in tag search, and the main Reader Search, as well as suggested posts and sites, but you shouldn’t depend just on that to gain new followers. The majority of followers to most sites come from search engines, social media accounts where you share your content, and from other bloggers who visit your site after you visit and comment on theirs.
You can see some tips here on how to get more traffic to your site:
-
In settings it is set to theworldisyourlobster.blog
so it ought to work didn’t it
one other thing I would like to know
Is there wordwrap available?
so when you write an article there can be the writing the side of an image?

Search in the Reader is an algorithmic search similar to Google search that returns results based on key words in the content of individual posts. Searching for your site’s URL there will not necessarily show posts from that site.
To view your site’s feed, instead click the Manage button in the Reader:
https://wordpress.com/following/manage
If you type your site’s link there you will see all your posts.

After you insert an image in a post, click on it. You’ll see a little pop-up menu with different alignment options. Select left- or right-align, and text will automatically wrap around the image.

It’s not doing that at all. On align left it will place the text at the bottom right edge; how do you get the text to sit to the right of the image?
-
Hell yeah I figured it myself. I placed the text then clicked align left on the image and bingo!

@gemmacevans images I know how to do it but it’s very hit and miss. I gave up and put all the single and album covers in a collage using Photoscape and it looks neater all round.
All over the place and the page editor is so annoying, you write, publish, visit page then doing more editing it just undoes everything you’ve done puting it all back the wa it was before. I’m only talking about double-spacing downward to separate the writing but I lost count how many times it continues to do this and it’s ver annoying.

there you go
just added more text, hit update, view page and all scrunched up again
sick and tired of having to repeat everything all the time

For an email address I mean, I think it should come free as part of the package.
And sorry about the moaning – I’m English and we’re very good at it!

I have tried to put a post on Reader by clicking PRESS THIS.
I thought maybe it would link the post in Reader but I’m not sure.
Looking at the stats, it doesn’t seem like the blog is getting any visitors.

If you just started a blog, it’ll take a while before it gets noticed. Just keep posting as if you already have an audience, and aim for good content that will interest them. That way by the time your audience finds you you’ll have a lot for them to explore. (just my 2 cents, that’s how it worked out for me – do also check out the link kokkieh gave you on getting more views/ traffic)

There’s a little uphill curve with figuring out wp in the beginning, but it gets easier quickly. Not sure exactly what you mean above, but the wp editor doesn’t let you add extra space between lines of text – just one blank line is all (though there may be a workaround for this that I don’t know). You can get a lot of help here on stuff like that if you are more specific, like post a link to a screenshot of how it came out, and say what’s wrong with it/ exactly what you are trying for.
Also there are a lot of very clear support docs on specifics like formatting text – go to SUPPORT in the upper right of the top menu header (in between Themes and Forums) and search around there and you will find a lot of useful stuff.
Good luck with your blog, stick with it if you are serious about it!

Thanks ingridcc that’s very kind to take time to guide me on all of this.
and apologies to all sometimes when things aren’t going right it’s a cross between excitement and annoyance for me.
Oh and impatience too.
There are ways around everything too. When you say it takes time for a blog to get noticed but it increases the more posts you make, currently I am remixing 1980’s music and posting a lot.
Also I am at only 40% usage, I may need to increase that and another question I have is because a friend of mine has a WP blog and a little forum on his, can a forum be added to a blog?
I leave that question open then, thanks and good luck everybody!

You’re welcome and I don’t know about adding a readers’ forum into your blog other than just the comment field under each post, not quite sure what it means actually.
You really should ask that as a new question in this forum, with the exact topic in the subject line. No one who has input on that will likely check this older thread with a different topic heading. Also, providing a link to your friend’s “forum” would be vry helpful – show people exactly what you mean by that.
It’s better to ask separate questions each with its own topic than to ask them all in one long thread. It’s fine to ask a lot of separate questions in the forum, you don’t have to try to squeeze them all into one thread.
Btw just because your friend has “WP” he might have wordpress.org which is a very different platform than wordpress.com so might not be applicable to us and is not what this forum handles. (wp.org allows plug-ins; wp.com does not but provides more protection and services right out of the box-protection from being hacked etc is already built-in… because wp is hosting us and providing all that stuff. Whereas with wp.org you just ‘take’ a blog format and go host it yourself somewhere – you’re on your own with it.)
Here’s a support doc on the difference: https://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
