On twenty sixteen theme you have to click comments to see them after the post. How do you set it so comments are shown after the post? Why isn’t this the default?
-
Comments are collapsed on the front pages of our sites and this cannot be changed. In a new blog, one does not have many posts or comments. In an established blog with many comments if the comments did not collapse on the front page it would become a mile long in no time flat and page loading time is a page ranking factor. We have only seconds before visitors refuse to wait and click out.

The way I have 2016 theme set up the most recent post is listed followed by the next most-recent post on the home page. Thus the comments just for that first most recent post could be shown at the end of that post, not for the whole site. Again, this seems like a feature most people would want, even if it could be turned off.

If you want to request that while knowing full well that how comments are collapsed on posts when displayed on the front page is coded into the core of WordPress software you can click this link and start a thread in the Ideas Forum https://en.forums.wordpress.com/forum/ideas.
Staff review all requests there and if and when they honor them they contact those making the request at the email address registered here https://wordpress.com/me/account
